Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs
Bibliographic Databases and Data Archives

For researchers, librarians, students, and anyone searching for literature and statistical information on addictions, SALIS presents this compilation of more than 100 databases and other online resources. International in scope, this was created to assist in the researching and dissemination of substance abuse, alcoholism, treatment, recovery, and other addictions information. Unfortunately, in recent years a number of ATOD databases have been eliminated, along with library downsizing and closures. The SALIS Advocacy Committee has documented the loss of those resources in a list available in the Members-only section: ATOD Libraries & Databases Downsizing and Closures.

Compiled by Barbara Weiner, Manager, Addiction Research Library, Butler Research Center for Research, Hazelden Betty Ford with sincere thanks to the many SALIS members who contribute towards this project.

In the "Databases Tab," you'll find collections of all known addiction/substance use disorder specialty databases, organized into these 5 categories:

  • Databases (Journal Articles, Research)

  • SALIS Collection (Internet Archive)

  • Global Compilation - International

  • Global Compilation - United States

  • Global Compilation - Data Archives, Surveys, Related Databases

These resources are constantly changing, and every effort is made to keep the lists up-to-date and accurate.
